The idea is to make your habit as easy as possible to start.
Make it easy to start and the rest will follow.
What you want is a gateway habit that naturally leads you to a productive path.
Eg, your goal maybe to run a marathon which seems hard, your gateway habit is putting on your running shoes.
Hence, if your goal is to meditate, your gateway habit is simply going into a sitting position and close your eyes first.

TIP:
A habit must be established before it can be improved.
You have to standardise before you can optimise.
You can’t improve a habit that doesn’t exist.
The above context is referenced from a highly recommended book by

So don’t be too hard on yourself
if you are just starting to meditate.
Once you unlock your gateway habit (step one),
your practice will begin and you’ll
arrive at your journey (meditate as a habit)
naturally, without knowing it.
